Product Description

Bitter Melon (scientific name: Momordica charantia L.) is a genus of balsam pear in cucurbitaceae, an annual climbing weak herb with many branches; Stems and branches are pilose. The tendrils are thin and indistinguishable. The petiole is slender; Leaf blade membranous, green above, pale green back, leaf veins palmate. It is monoecious. Male flower pedicels slender, puberulent; Bracts green, slightly ciliate; Calyx lobes ovate lanceolate, white pilose; Corolla yellow, lobes pilose; Stamens free. Female flowers solitary, pedicels puberulent; Ovary fusiform, stigma dilated. The fruit is spindle shaped or cylindrical, with many warts and wrinkles, and orange yellow when mature. The seed is oblong, with grooves on both sides. The flowering and fruiting periods are from May to October.
